TAKE THE TACO TUESDAY CHALLENGE!

On Taco Tuesday, July 18, 2023, Taco John’s released rights to the TACO TUESDAY trademark that they owned for 40 years. They chose to put funds to good use that would have been directed to cover attorney fee’s and protect their trademark. Instead, they decided to release the trademark as a gift to the restaurant industry and allocate these dollars to CORE: Children of Restaurant Employees. Their gift to CORE has inspired operators to accept the challenge and donate $100 for each foodservice location that will celebrate Taco Tuesday.
“Taco John’s is proud to partner with CORE, and to help families in the quick service (or hospitality/restaurant) community. The work CORE is doing is paramount to our industry, helping restaurant employees and folks who feed the nation on a daily basis when they need it most.”
Jim Creel – Taco John’s CEO
Thank you so much to the restaurants who have accepted the Taco Tuesday Challenge!
For years, restaurants have been unable to use the term Taco Tuesday, which has been a staple in pop culture for some time. Because of this, Tijuana Flats wants to do something special to commemorate the freedom of Taco Tuesday,” said Tijuana Flats CEO Joe Christina. “Making every night feel like Taco Tuesday – which feels great to say – is an exciting opportunity to showcase our value and quality, and Tijuana Flats is honored to raise money for CORE through our Just in Queso Foundation to support families of restaurant workers when they need it most.”
To get involved, contact Sheila Bennett: Sheila@coregives.org to learn how your donation can make a positive difference in the lives of food and beverage service employees with children that face a life-altering health crisis, injury, death, or natural disaster.  You can simply make a direct donation or raise funds in a variety of ways. This fall, CORE will launch the Serving Up Hope campaign designed to bring the restaurant industry together to raise funds needed to help employees that may qualify for a grant. CORE provides resources to help and can also serve as a benefit and resource for restaurant employees across the industry that qualify for a grant. CORE helps employees in all 50 states, D.C. in Puerto Rico and that work in food and beverage service operations of all sizes. Support CORE and help employees in an industry that gives back to their local communities, and honor Taco John’s example to do good.
